Le haut-parleur Bluetooth sans fil Marshall Woburn II est le plus grand modèle de la société et une version mise à jour de sa gamme de produits Woburn. Comme la plupart des haut-parleurs Marshall, celui-ci est conçu pour ressembler à l'apparence de leur célèbre gamme d'amplificateurs de guitare. Et aussi pour donner une impression du "mur du son" de Marshall.
Cela dit, le Woburn II peut sembler un peu mince pour un nouveau produit Bluetooth. Il s'agit essentiellement d'un haut-parleur sans fil avec quelques fonctionnalités supplémentaires.
Apparence et sensation
Les haut-parleurs Bluetooth Marshall ressemblent tous à leurs amplificateurs de guitare emblématiques dans une certaine mesure. Le Woburn II est aussi grand que de nombreux amplis d'entraînement, 15,8 x 12,2 x 7,9 pouces (41 x 31 x 20 cm), et il pèse 18,9 livres (8,6 kg), il peut donc facilement être confondu avec un.
L'enceinte bass reflex est recouverte de Tolex noir, marron ou blanc. Et dispose d'un tissu de grille gris tissé orné d'un grand logo Marshall en plastique avec des lettres dorées et d'une bande de garniture en aluminium anodisé doré assortie en bas.
Le nec plus ultra du rock and roll…
Sur le dessus du boîtier se trouvent les commandes de contrôle de l'utilisateur montées sur une plaque en or brossé, avec des boutons fabriqués dans le même style que leurs amplificateurs emblématiques. Quatre grands pieds en caoutchouc assurent qu'il reste fermement en place. Dans l'ensemble, il dégage définitivement une forte ambiance rock and roll .
Le panneau arrière est couvert d'avis et d'avertissements légaux, il semble donc mieux placé près d'un mur où ce côté est caché. À l'arrière se trouvent également une paire de prises d'entrée RCA et un port de service.
Contrôles utilisateur
Sur le panneau supérieur, de gauche à droite, se trouve une prise d'entrée de 1/8 pouce (3,5 mm) et un interrupteur à poussoir pour sélectionner soit cette prise, les connecteurs RCA sur le panneau arrière, soit l'entrée Bluetooth.
Au milieu se trouvent les boutons de contrôle du volume, des graves et des aigus. Les petites barres obliques autour de chaque commande sont en fait de petites LED rouges, il est donc facile de visualiser les réglages de l'ampli même dans des conditions de très faible luminosité. À droite des boutons se trouvent un bouton-poussoir de pause de lecture et l'interrupteur d'alimentation principal.
Woburn II fonctionne avec une tension d'entrée de 100 à 240 volts à 50 ou 60 Hertz, il peut donc être utilisé partout dans le monde sans adaptateur. Malheureusement, il n'y a pas d'option pour connecter une batterie.
Puissance rock'n'roll
The Woburn II is a stereo speaker system. It comes with two 5.25-inch bass speakers and two 1-inch tweeters. The speakers are individually powered by Class D amps that provide 50 watts to each bass speaker and 15 watts to each tweeter .
All this power means that Woburn II can pump out sound levels of up to 110 decibels, with a full-range frequency response of 30 – 20,000 Hz, loud enough to keep all your neighbors awake all night!
Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity
Woburn II utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 and aptX technology , so it can receive an audio signal up to 30 feet (10 meters) away. You can stream music directly to the speaker from a smartphone, computer, or other wireless media device. Plus, this Bluetooth revision allows you to connect two devices to the Woburn II at the same time.
AptX is an improved compression technology that works with Bluetooth to provide almost CD quality audio. It also minimizes latency, which is important for watching video.
And you can control it from your phone!
The free Marshall Bluetooth app lets you get firmware updates and create custom EQ settings using its five-band EQ. You can also use it to adjust the LED brightness, pair the Woburn II with another speaker, or put it to sleep and wake it up.
How Does it Sound?
The Marshall Woburn II’s large woofers coupled with dual bass ports on the back of the cabinet ensure a powerful low-end response all the way down to sub-bass frequencies. Some users might find it to be too bassy, even with the bass control rolled back.
On the other hand, the high end is crisp and bright, with plenty of sparkle in the upper ranges where cymbals and vocal sibilants reside. Overall the sound is excellent, especially at high listening levels , which one would expect considering its price.
What’s Missing?
The Woburn II is just a speaker. It doesn’t provide any special connectivity features like Spotify Connect or AirPlay. And there is no support for digital assistants like Alexa or even Wi-Fi for multi-room audio.
A battery option would be a nice addition, so the speaker could be used outdoors. Also, the package doesn’t include any cables, a surprising omission in a product at this price. Finally, since it looks like a Marshall guitar amp, a guitar input would be a nice added feature.

Marshall Woburn II Wireless Bluetooth Speaker – Final thoughts
The Marshall Woburn II is an excellent choice if you enjoy listening to music at medium to high volume levels with a full-range frequency response and powerful bass. You can use it wirelessly or connect devices through the two external input connectors. And it really looks like a Marshall amp, adding a rock and roll vibe to your living room.
On the downside, it offers fewer internet options than similar models from other manufacturers. This might or might not be important to you. And since it won’t run on batteries, it’s not very portable.
