xFyro a démontré une incroyable capacité à commercialiser ses produits. Cependant, les avis sur la qualité du son sont partagés par les audiophiles et je ne suis pas sûr que mon avis sera différent.

Ils ont certainement tiré le meilleur parti des mentions de célébrités «payées» et j'applaudis leurs compétences en marketing pour rehausser le profil de la marque là où elle se trouve. Dieu sait qu'il est difficile de lancer une marque audio sur ce marché très fréquenté.

Les vrais écouteurs sans fil xFyro ANC Pro ne sont pas de mauvais écouteurs et sur un marché où l'obtention d'Apple AirPods Pro va vous coûter votre budget annuel Starbucks, tout bon et abordable vrais écouteurs sans fil avec suppression active du bruit et Bluetooth 5.0 ne peut pas être un mauvaise chose.

Au moment de la rédaction de cet article, ceux-ci se vendaient à 50 % de réduction sur un prix de détail de 299 $, ce qui en faisait 150 $. Alors, en valent-ils la peine ?

Abordons les caractéristiques évidentes qui les distinguent

Suppression active du bruit (ANC)

Depuis que je possède divers écouteurs ANC, vrais sans fil ou non, y compris le Sony WF1000XM3 et les Apple AirPods Pro, j'ai eu du mal à trouver des unités qui battent l'utilisation sans effort, le son solide et les excellentes capacités ANC des AirPods Pro.

Les xFyro sont OK. L'ANC fonctionne comme leur mode de transparence, mais cela ne vous donnera pas l'impression d'être soudainement isolé de l'environnement qui vous entoure, ni la sensation d'être sous l'eau.

Sur une échelle de 1 à 10, avec les AirPods et Sony XM3 étant un 8, ceux-ci obtiendraient un solide 5 ou 6. Encore une fois, considérez la différence de prix ici. Vous obtenez ce que vous payez et au moins cela fonctionne assez bien du tout.

Vous pouvez activer les modes ANC et Transparence en appuyant et en maintenant enfoncé l'écouteur droit pendant quelques secondes. Le bruit ambiant peut toujours être entendu en mode ANC, mais les contours des autres sons sont réduits.

Avec l'ANC activé (et aucune musique en cours de lecture), je peux toujours entendre le son des autres claviers du bureau tapant au loin, mais c'est certainement moins distrayant que sans, et nous avons un bureau très « vivant » avec des planchers de bois franc. Ajoutez un peu de musique et c'est tout bon.

Les bruits de fond et le bruit ambiant en mode transparence semblaient presque amplifiés, un peu plus artificiels que je ne le souhaiterais. Ce n'est pas un mode que j'utiliserais volontairement. Je l'utilise sur

Connectivité Bluetooth

Ceux-ci se sont reconnectés à mon MacBook Air (M1) sans problème. Je ne les ai pas chargés depuis des semaines, mais ils ont bien tenu la charge pour les fois où je les ai utilisés.

Lorsque j'ouvre l'étui et que je les mets dans mes oreilles, ils se connectent à mon ordinateur portable sans problème et je pars.

Je n'ai pas trop souvent essayé de les basculer entre l'iPhone et le Macbook, mais je pense qu'avec Bluetooth 5.0, ils maximisent la connectivité solide disponible.

Sur ce front, ils sont rapides et efficaces. Lors de la première connexion, il a fallu un peu de bricolage et pour être honnête, je ne me souviens pas exactement de ce que j'ai fait, mais je sais que je n'ai pas lu le manuel, ce qui aurait peut-être évité la douleur et la souffrance.

Autonomie et charge de la batterie

De ce côté-là, je suis vraiment agréablement surpris. Je les ai chargés lorsque je les ai reçus pour la première fois de xFyro et je ne les ai pas branchés depuis. C'était il y a environ un mois. Je les ai écoutés plusieurs fois et aujourd'hui je leur ai donné un bon entraînement de 2-3 heures.

Si je les avais passés en revue lors d'écoutes précédentes, j'aurais peut-être donné une critique beaucoup plus sévère, mais après les performances de leur batterie, j'ai définitivement deviné quelques opinions.

xFryo indique que vous pouvez obtenir 10 heures d'autonomie en lecture et jusqu'à 9 charges complètes à partir du boîtier à partir d'une seule charge (90 heures). Je ne sais pas si Bluetooth 5.0 permet de prolonger la durée de vie de ces écouteurs sans fil.

Il y a une connexion de charge rapide USB-C sur le boîtier (pas de charge sans fil ici mais qu'attendez-vous pour le prix les gens !) Ce qui permet d'effectuer rapidement une recharge d'énergie.

Gamme de casques sans fil

Nous avons un bureau à un seul étage qui est ouvert mais il y a des murs dans la cuisine. Ma maison n'est pas particulièrement ouverte et j'ai un million de signaux numériques traversant partout - principalement le WiFi mais aussi certains appareils BlueTooth.

Pas une seule fois le xFyro ANC Pro n'a perdu la connexion ou ne m'a donné de soucis concernant la force du signal ou une perte de qualité sonore. J'ai passé du temps à marcher à l'extérieur du bureau principal, j'ai fait du thé, j'ai visité les toilettes (TMI?) Et je n'ai remarqué aucune baisse de signal.

Je ne peux pas vraiment dire que j'ai eu autant de succès avec mes AirPods Pro. Bravo xFyro, en ce qui concerne les écouteurs sans fil, ils se sont bien débrouillés.

Résistance à l'eau

Ceux-ci sont classés IPX5 pour leur résistance à l'eau. Cela ne signifie pas qu'ils sont des écouteurs étanches par n'importe quel effort d'imagination. Ils devraient convenir si vous courez ou faites de l'exercice sous la pluie, peut-être jusqu'à 5 à 10 minutes d'exposition directe à la pluie sans trop de problème.

Si vous transpirez dans la salle de sport, la nature résistante à l'eau des oreillettes sans fil xFyro devrait très bien résister.

Appels téléphoniques et vidéoconférences

Je n'ai pas tendance à passer beaucoup d'appels téléphoniques, mais je fais beaucoup de vidéoconférences, de google meet, d'appels zoom, de slack et de réunions d'équipes Microsoft en ligne.

Aujourd'hui, j'ai fait quelques caucus relâchés et ceux-ci sonnaient bien selon l'autre bout de l'appel. It’s not easy to self-assess these without giving them to other people to use and I’m not big on sharing earbuds, COVID or not.

I wasn’t able to really flex these in a busy environment but I’ll have a go over the next couple of days and update as I go.

Comfort

This is the first of my two big concerns with these wireless headphones. I struggled to easily get these into my ear canals. They just didn’t sit naturally in my ear and I had to push them in quite firmly to create a suitable seal.

Comfortable earbuds can often benefit from the right kind of ear tips. There are three ear tips available in the retail package so make sure you try all of them, even if you feel like you have a decent fit with one. Sometimes it might surprise you to get an even better fit with another set of ear tips.

Oddly, and what I didn’t expect is once I got them in there they seemed to hold. This surprised me because they really don’t sit very far into the ear canal.

If you’ve used wireless earphones with active noise-cancelling before you’ll know that it’s important to have a good seal. You won’t maximise the ANC effect if you have noise spilling in from the side.

The AirPods Pro have perfected this in-ear canal fit perfectly and the xFyro just feel like they might fall out at any time, or at least, that it’s going to take some effort to get a good fit.

Now, in saying all of that I have to say once the xFyro ANC Pro were in, and seated as well as I could get them, they did spend an hour or two in there with no noticeable ear fatigue or discomfort.

Comfort and good fit have to go hand-in-hand. If you have one and not the other, it just doesn’t work. Even at this price range, I expect a good fit.

I prefer the ‘hang in the ear’ type of fit of the AMC Pro rather than the xS2. I think they just work for more ear types.

Sound / Audio Quality

Finally, a section that I always put at the end of my reviews but should always come first.

The xFyro sound good, not great, and you have to make sure you get a good fit in your ear canal. If you have any sound spill through the silicon ear tips you will notice a significant lack of bass – this is typical of any wireless earphones or in-ear monitors in this space.

You want to feel that even though there is no music or ANC enabled that there is still a feeling of noise isolation to the outside world.

If the sound is good, not great, why would I still consider giving these a recommendation I hear you ask? Fair question. The truth is there are so many things wireless earphones like the xFyro ANC Pro offer beyond just good sound.

A few include:

• Great battery life
• True wireless earbuds
• Use for phone calls and music
• Volume, ANC, Smart assistant (Siri/Google) access from the controls on the earbud

Sometimes the convenience and practicality of a true wireless earphone with ANC means that if they sound pretty good, that’s enough to make them worth the purchase.

If you are an audiophile then I would suggest true wireless headphones are just not quite there in terms of sound quality. My review of the Sony WF1000XM3 vs Apple AirPods Pro also supports that conclusion.

If you can live with the cables then there are some excellent budget IEMs that will give you better sound quality.

The xFyro Pro have a decent Bass response (if you have the earbuds seated in your ear well) and good balance through the mids and treble. Bass stands out more to comment on rather than the treble and high end but it’s there.

I’d have to say as a working earphone, commuter pair or ‘i need something for every situation’ then these will be sufficient. They won’t move you in such a way that you want to jump up and dance on your office chair or swing down the aisle on the train but, they sound pretty good.

If the price stays sub $150 then they are more than a contender for other brands like mpow, Anker and other affordable ANC wireless earphones.

Voice Assistants and Controls

Out of the box, the xFryo ANC Pro come with Siri and Google Assistant available. This can be activated with a long press on the left earbud.

A long press on the right earbud activates ANC (active noise-cancelling mode) and a second long press activates AI transparency mode. I’m not sure if I noticed the AI (Artificial Intelligence).

A single touch on left earbud decreases the volume and single touch on right earbud increases volume.

Pros – Things I liked about the xFryo ANC

• I like the battery life.
• The fact that everything worked they way I would expect it too.
• I liked not faffing about with Bluetooth connections – they just work
• I liked that audio on video calls sounded good
• Single use earbuds is an option – don’t need to wear both

Cons – The things I’d like to see in the next version

• More work on the in-ear canal fit
• Making it easier to get these out of the case – it’s frustrating at times
• Smaller form factor

Conclusion

The xFyro surprised me. They felt cheap and light but everything worked and the sound quality was good.

I expected poor phone call quality but people on the other end said the audio sounded great.

The case was awkward to use and very light yet it powered the units with seemingly everlasting battery power.

The volume controls on the earbuds even worked which I can’t say is true of all true wireless earbuds

The ANC wasn’t spectacular but definitely acceptable and made enough of a difference to justify the extra cost. While the sound isolation took some fiddling it was decent once achieved.

I guess…that means despite my intentions to not recommend these, I’d have to say for the price (~$150) they aren’t too bad at all.

If that’s your budget, or if you want a good all-rounder set of wireless earbuds then the xFyro ANC are worth a look.
